Michael Clark received his Ph.D. in economics from George Mason University. Since then, he has been at Hillsdale College for 11 years. Hillsdale is a nationally recognized institution for its top-tier undergraduate teaching. Thus, it is quite the achievement that in this environment Dr. Clark has been a finalist for the college-wide professor of the year 4 times. At Hillsdale, Dr. Clark is an associate professor and the Wallace and Marion Reemelin Chair in Free Market Education where he specializes in communicating the core messages of economics. He is also the 2019 winner of the National Economics Teacher's Association Best In Class econ teaching innovation for his contribution: The Alchian Maze. Dr. Clark has found many avenues for reaching high school and college students with the ideas of liberty, economics, and personal finance by speaking at events for the Foundation for Economic Education, Institute for Humane Studies, and the Center for Teaching Excellence just to name a few. Before coming to Hillsdale he taught at the University of Baltimore where he earned a school of business top teacher award in 2009. Dr. Clark has a deep appreciation for the mainline of economics running from Adam Smith to Vernon Smith and loves to share those ideas with his students.
